Opening hours
Exceptionally closed on Thursday 22 May from 2 to 3 p.m.
From 5 September to 30 April 10am- 12.45pm and 2pm - 5pm
2 May to 4 September 10am- 12.45pm and 2pm - 6pm
Please note : Last visit at 4.45pm.
Closed on Sunday mornings, January 1st , May 1st and 25 th December.
Exceptional closures
Exceptional closure : Wednesday 5th March morning, Wednesday 16th to Sunday 20th April, Saturday 26th April morning, Saturday 3rd May afternoon, Sunday 4th May afternoon, Friday 23th May afternoon, Saturday 24th May afternoon, Sunday 25th May, Thursday 29th May morning, Saturday 31th May morning, Saturday 7th June afternoon, Monday 9th June, Saturday 21th June afternoon, Friday 15th August.
Due to official ceremonies or adverses weather conditions, Chartres cathedral may be partially or totally closed on an exceptional basis. These changes in schedule are posted on our website.
In the event of exceptional closure, e-tickets purchased on the Centre des monuments nationaux online ticketing service are automatically refunded to the bank account that was debited. There is no need to make any claims. Please note that there will be a delay.

By car
From Le Mans: A11, exit no. 3 then N10 towards Chartres. From Paris: A11, exit no. 2 then N10 towards Chartres. From Rouen or Orléans: N154 towards Chartres. Chartres cathedral is located in the heart of the city's pedestrianised historic centre.
By train
Direct train from Gare Montparnasse (Paris), then a 10-minute walk.

- No dogs allowed
- No smoking or vaping in the monument
- Suitcases not permitted
- No pushchairs allowed on the upper level of the monument
- Guided tours are only available in French
